Amon Amarth

Amon Amarth formed in Tumba, Sweden in 1992, taking their name from the Sindarin name for Mount Doom in Tolkien’s Middle-earth. The band developed their signature style combining melodic death metal riffing with lyrics drawn from Norse mythology and Viking history.

With albums like Twilight of the Thunder God, Surtur Rising, and Jomsviking, Amon Amarth have built a devoted global following. Their elaborate live shows — featuring longship stage props, authentic Viking costumes, and pyrotechnics — have made them one of the most spectacular acts in metal.
