About the Scene
Belgium may be a small country, but its contribution to the European metal festival scene is enormous. Graspop Metal Meeting, held in the village of Dessel, has grown from a small gathering in 1996 into one of the continent’s most respected metal events.
The Belgian metal scene also boasts a strong local roster of bands across death metal, thrash, and black metal subgenres.
