Graspop Metal Meeting
About
Graspop Metal Meeting was founded in 1996 in the small Belgian village of Dessel and has grown into one of Europe’s most respected metal festivals. The name combines “gras” (grass in Dutch) and “pop” — referring to the outdoor grass-fields setting — with the festival’s focus on heavy music.
The festival is distinguished by its exceptional sound quality, efficient organization, and the warm Belgian hospitality that keeps international visitors returning. Graspop typically operates across multiple stages simultaneously, offering a meticulously curated selection from mainstream heavy metal through to underground extreme acts.
The festival’s four-day format allows for an expansive lineup while maintaining a focused heavy metal identity that distinguishes it from broader rock festivals.
